PSL: College AU -- background
Korra is a member of the Haida nation. Her father is the chief councillor of their village, and along with her mother, instilled in Korra a passionate desire to preserve her tribe's history, culture, and their environment.
Her parents, in an effort to help preserve their traditions, kept Korra very close to home, but she wanted to see the world, so she applied for & was accepted to a US college to study environmental science, with a minor in comparative religion. She got enough scholarships between her grades and her first nations identity to get most of her tuition covered, so her parents couldn't say no.
Korra's main passion in life is martial arts, though. She's studied Chulukua-Ryu her entire life, but also loves to learn new styles. And she's much better at fighting than school, although she gives school 110% of her effort.
