Korra is actually an excellent team player -- she functions really well with the Fire Ferrets, except when romantic drama got in the way. She recognizes when other people have strengths she does not and has no problem yielding to that. Mako, for example, is good at making plans, and she willingly goes along with his plans.

And I would not call her a natural leader. I think she will grow to become a good leader, but -- much like spirituality -- it won't be easy for her. She can work well with others, but her first instinct is to do things alone. She doesn't know how to ask for help. I don't see this as independence so much as impulsiveness. It's not a desire for control -- she just doesn't take the time to think. She's also not a natural listener.

I'm torn about her confidence. She's certainly confident in her physical prowess. She's not afraid to fight, and getting her ass kicked physically doesn't damage her self-esteem; it just inspires her to work harder. But I wouldn't call her self-assured. She's very, very aware of how other people see her and worried about what they think -- something that Tarrlok uses to his advantage by getting reporters to goad her into joining his task force. She's worried about being able to live up to Avatar Aang's legacy.

Her entire sense of self is wrapped up in her status as the Avatar and her bending. It's why Amon terrifies her so much. He can (and does) take away that which makes her her. "I will destroy you," he says in her nightmare.


So I don't know. Aries fits her most visible qualities, but I think it misses her subtler motivations. (I also don't really like using a fire sign for someone who was born into the Water Tribe)

The life of a Scorpio is challenging, but there’ll never be a dull moment

I actually really think Scorpio fits her much better. (It's also a water sign, which makes me happy.) Korra is extremely emotional -- she feels everything deeply, and except for fear, she never really keeps any feeling to herself. Even when she doesn't mean to be, she's incredibly expressive and easy to read. She's also a tireless worker. She constantly trains in her bending. Even her hobby involves bending.

This also captures some of the darker aspects of her personality, in that she can be incredibly vindictive and a bully. Though her bullying doesn't come from a desire to hurt other people; it's just another sign of her thoughtlessness. She doesn't consider her strength in relation to others, and so doesn't moderate it.

But she is vindictive, and she's not above cheating. When the Wolfbats are crushing the Fire Ferrets because they paid off the referee, Korra's the one to suggest that they cheat too, and Mako has to talk her out of it. Having encountered Tahno before, she went into the match wanting to beat the snot out of him, and when the tie breaker comes along, she immediately volunteers herself because she wants to beat him up. This is a quality she definitely needs to watch out for.


I also think she works really well as a Scorpio-Sagittarius cusp.

Not that she would know this right away, actually, since the Avatar!verse wouldn't have a Gregorian calendar. I don't remember if canon mentions them using a lunar calendar, but I think that'd make sense. Even so, she'd have no basis of comparison to determine what City date equals a date at home.
